General Dental Services

Maintaining a beautiful and healthy smile may be achieved through regular care, such as brushing and flossing daily. Your team at Union Family Dental is committed to helping you achieve this goal by providing you with the most advanced preventive dentistry and answering your questions and concerns.

Fillings

When decay needs to be removed from a tooth, dentists replace it with a filling. Thanks to advancements in the field, amalgam (silver) is no longer used as a filling material during this process.

Instead, you can now have a cosmetic or tooth-colored filling. These fillings match the color of your tooth, making it appear as though the tooth has never been filled.

Teeth Cleaning

It’s important to visit your dentist every six months for a cleaning to prevent the occurrence of gum disease. During a cleaning, hygienists will remove any stains or tartar that are impacting your smile, eliminating any instances of bad breath and boosting the appearance of your smile.

Crowns and Bridges

Teeth that have needed repeated filling work, may eventually require a stronger restoration, called a crown. Crowns are designed to protect the entire tooth and prevent the tooth from breaking. Your doctor will discuss the option that is best for you – whether it’s a gold crown or a crown that matches your existing tooth color.

Bridges replace the space left behind from a missing tooth. Cemented in place, bridges do not come out and can match the color of your teeth.

Tooth Extraction

While every effort is always made to preserve your teeth, sometimes an extraction is necessary to maintain the health of your mouth and gums. If it is decided the best course of action is to remove one of your teeth, our team will ensure your comfort throughout the entire procedure by applying a numbing agent to the affected area so you experience no pain. Your comfort is our first concern.

NightGuard

Individuals who clinch or grind their teeth in their sleep – known as bruxism – may benefit from using a NightGuard. A flexible mouthpiece, the device is customized by your dentist and aligns your teeth and jaw so that your neck, facial and jaw muscles can rest, protecting your teeth and jaw while you sleep. Many patients report less headaches, tension in their neck and shoulders, snoring and difficulty breathing after using the mouthpiece for an extended period of time.

Root Canal

Root canals become necessary when the nerve tissue inside the tooth becomes damaged. During the procedure, your dentist will remove the soft tissue within the tooth, called the pulp, and gently file the infected and inflamed tissue out of the root canals of the tooth. The void that is created is then filled in with an inert material and completed with the placement of a filling, or in some instances, a crown.

While the procedure sounds quite intensive, it’s actually virtually painless.

Periodontal Therapy

Giving your teeth a strong foundation is one of the best things you can do to ensure your dental health. Periodontal therapy focuses on the care of the gum and bone structures that support your teeth. Individuals with healthy gums reduce the likelihood of infection or disease in this area.

At Union Family Dental, we focus on periodontal health. Our selection of advanced periodontal therapy programs will not only contribute to the restoration of your gums, but it will also help prevent future problems.
